The City of Torino has recently received two important awards for its innovation policy.

On the occasion of the IRF Global R2T (Roads to Tomorrow) Conference & Exhibition di Las Vegas (Nevada) the City was awarded the "Global Road Achievement Award 2019" in the category "urban mobility" with the project "Torino Smart Road". The event brings together more than 150 speakers and stakeholders from about 60 countries in a discussion on topics related to innovative road construction techniques, road safety, road charging, traffic management, connected and autonomous vehicles. The Global Road Achievement Awards is a unique competition to recognize innovative projects worldwide that put the road industry at the forefront. The City of Torino, supported by TTS Italia, has competed for the award with the project "The Torino Smart Road project: the role of public authorities as key enablers of innovative mobility services based on ITS".

The "Ecohitech Award" was given in Bologna during the "Lumi Expo" an event dedicated to IoT technologies and digitization for the built environment. Now in its twentieth edition, the award recognizes Italian Smart Cities and Public Administrations that, through the adoption of new technologies, have achieved important results of eco-compatibility, environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Among the more than 30 candidate projects, the City won first prize for its "innovative approach, continuous technological experimentation and openness to shared projects aimed at solving urban problems through the adoption of IoT and Artificial Intelligence" thanks to the IoT/IOD Lab, which supported the development and testing of innovative solutions with the support of the Torino Wireless Foundation and the TOP-IX Consortium.
Enerbrain's "Energy Retrofit" experimentation is a good example of the spirit of the Lab: the technology proposed by the startup was chosen by the Iren group to transform some of the city's buildings (mainly schools and offices) into increasingly smart structures thanks to the adoption of energy retrofit systems that make it possible to achieve significant energy savings and careful monitoring of indoor comfort and air quality.
