ENoLL, the Brussels-based European Network of Living Labs, has chosen the City of Torino for the Open Living Lab Days, an international event that will be held entirely in presence on September 20-23,2022.

After two online editions, around 400 innovators from several European cities and international keynotes speakers are expected in Torino.

The event includes intensive days of conferences, panels and workshops where public officials, companies, entrepreneurs, academics and representatives of living labs will work together, exchange views and increase their networking.

On the last day, site visits to strategic locations in the city are also planned. Among the destinations already selected are the 'innovation mile', which brings together the city's technological innovation actors and structures, and Open Incet, which houses the Competence Centre for Social Innovation.

"Torino - say the leaders of Enoll - has been chosen for its dual innovative soul, technological and social, and for the active community of innovators present in the area".

Torino joined the ENoLL network in 2018 thanks to Torino City Lab, the open laboratory of the City of Torino aimed at promoting co-development and experimentation in real conditions of innovative solutions of urban interest in the various areas of Smart City, thanks to collaboration between companies, the world of research and PA.

The intense activity of Torino City Lab, one of the main "urban laboratories" also on an international level, influenced the choice and in 2020 won the European contest organized by the same Belgian association, with the innovative solidarity project Torino City Love, designed to deal with the hardships and difficulties of the emergency COVID 19.

The program of the event in the definition phase will focus on the Living Lab in all its facets and applications.

“We are very pleased to host this event, which is so important for our city," says Chiara Foglietta, the city's Councillor for innovation. "The focal point of the living lab is the interaction with the end users, which allows for the improvement of the tested technology and a greater awareness of citizens on urban innovation processes. Torino has been using this approach for some time now, proving that it is increasingly attractive to companies and researchers at an international level”.

The Living Lab creates the conditions for the experimentation of new technologies in a geographical context and in a limited period of time, with the aim of testing their feasibility and their degree of usefulness for users, allowing the improvement of their characteristics with a view to their application on a larger scale.

The mission of ENoLL, an international association with over 480 certified members and more than 150 active members in Europe and worldwide, is to promote and enhance user-driven innovation ecosystems, scaling the Living Lab concept globally.

A special space within the event will be dedicated to the presentation of the House of Emerging Technologies in Torino - CTE NEXT, a project co-funded by the Ministry of Economic Development which, in continuity with Torino City Lab, promotes an "Urban Testing" programme focused on the enabling role of 5G and emerging technologies in urban contexts in strategic sectors such as Smart Mobility (land and air), Industry 4.0 and innovative urban services for "future cities".

This and much more is ENoLL's Open Living Lab Days 2022 in Torino, an event that confirms our city as one of the most important European capitals of innovation and that establishes a partnership destined to last and grow in the next years.

Starting from April 2022, it will be possible to register for the event and buy tickets online at the Open Living Lab Days website.
