PowerMarket for Smart Cities and Smart Grids is a project developed by PowerMarket, a start-up based in Oxford, UK.
Considering that the 15% of the World’s countries are adopting aggressive carbon emission targets and as a result, are actively looking to install solar energy assets, PowerMarket has developed a single centralized platform able to locate best solar sites through satellite data identifying related financial and environmental impact.
This solution is geared towards Smart Cities and Smart Grids to help the cities, governments, grid-operators and energy utilities optimise grid management and energy trading, while helping policy makers and real estate asset managers identify optimal solar sites.
PowerMarket is one of the company inserted in the “Techstars Smart Mobility Accelerator", a three-years acceleration program in Smart Mobility domain supported by Techstars, Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT e Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. PowerMarket will improve a testing settled in two phases:
- mapping through SAT data the whole city territory
- test of the PowerMarket platform to assess the technical and economic advantages of installing photovoltaic systems on a subset of public buildings or buildings owned by IREN s.p.a. in Turin.
During the testing the proponent will be accompanied by IREN s.p.a., the local utility managing public buildings and electrical systems in Torino and Partner of Torino City Lab. /
