Wiseair

Project by WISEAIR

The Experimentation, born from the collaboration between Torino City Lab and Techstar 2021 (acceleration program promoted in Turin thanks to the partner Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center) is inspired by the GEMS Air program of the United Nations, which aims to make air monitoring more accessible and capillary, integrating the new technologies for monitoring low-cost pollutants that have emerged from the world of research in recent years.

After installing 20 sensors on the balconies of Turin citizens who have become Ambassador of the project, Wiseair will proceed to install an additional 10 sensors of atmospheric particulate matter that thanks to the support of the administration will be strategically positioned to conduct targeted analysis on the territory. Arpa Piemonte has also joined the project, which has already installed 3 Wiseair sensors at its own control unit in order to carry out, as requested by the City of Turin, an analysis of the comparison of data with those produced by its analyzers in accordance with the law.

To the commitment of Arpa, we then add that of Unito, Iren Spa., Fastweb Spa, Foundation Links. Each of these stakeholders will in fact make available their infrastructure assets and their know-how on the subject.

The final objective of the experiment is to provide the city and its citizens with a unique air quality control platform in Europe. An infrastructure that will ensure that Turin citizens have access to clear and transparent information on the air they breathe and the Administration to guide its urban development policies by continuously monitoring their impact and thus maximising their effectiveness.
